DL
Since Cliff Lee is hurt I put him on my DL and picked up Mark Beurle. Of course, I did it AFTER he won his first game so I didn't get any points for him.

He's got one hell of an outfield line up. His bench is pretty sick too. I think I'm in trouble, AGAIN.

srsly
Well folks (and by folks I mean Ben), it's that time of year again. The time of year when I say 'I'm really gonna use this blog thing this season". The time of year when I basically post twice and then stop completely. But this year is gonna be different! I promise to post AT LEAST three times before I stop.
It's also the time of year when my family (Larry, Fritz, and Mushu) reactivate our fantasy baseball teams. So far, Mushu (she's my cat) has beat me every year. I even tried to sabatoge her last year by giving her an all asian team. I gave up after I couldn't find her a third baseman and also because I felt a little bad about it. I mean, she has no thumbs, ya know?
This year we did mix it up a little bit though. Instead of drafting our own teams, we let ESPN do it for us. This is how my team looks right this second, i.e. before I've started trading anyone:
C Miguel Montero, Ari
1B Adrian Gonzalez, SD
2B Chase Utley, Phi
3B David Wright, NYM
SS Troy Tulowitzki, Col
2B/SS Jimmy Rollins, Phi
1B/3B Joey Votto, Cin
OF Ryan Braun, Mil
OF Matt Holiday, Stl
OF Jayseon Werth, Phi
OF Curtis Granderson, NYY
OF Adam Jones, Bal
UTIL Mark Reynolds, Ari
Bench Chone Figgins, Sea
Bench Josh Hamilton, Tex
Bench Aaron Hill, Tor
P Roy Halladay, Phi
P Cliff Lee, Sea
P Johan Santana, NYM
P Mariano Rivera, NYY
P Josh Johnson, Fla
P Matt Cain, SF
P Francisco Rodriguez, NYM
P Heath Bell, SD
P Jake Peavy, CWS
I can tell you right off the bat I'll be dumping Josh Hamilton and Francisco Rodriguez. Josh on principal alone (anyone who says the best part of the All-Star game is getting to 'testify' about Jesus then falls off the wagon a week later should probably not ever do an interview again) and Kiko cause I've honestly never seen him pitch for shit. Heath Bell is in that same boat so I'll have to look at his stats, and while Mariano is probably the greatest closer of our time he's coming to the end of his career and the 'pop on his cheese' is significantly less than it was even three years ago.
I'll likely also switch David Wright and Chone Figgins with each other, i.e. put David on the bench til we see how his injury from last year has healed.
Sadly I must admit I don't know who Miguel Montero is, nor Joey Votto, nor Adam Jones though the last one at least sounds familiar. Looks like I have some studying to do and some games to watch.
Any thoughts?
I'll post the teams I'm up against in the next three posts to keep them seperate. I'll also post how ESPN calculates the scores.
